GOSH Prime’n Set (Primer & Mattifying Setting Powder)

Hello ladies!

Have you ever seen a powder that not only can be used as a setting powder to create a flawless matte finish but it also preps the face like a primer. This is a 2 in 1 product I’ve not seen on the market before and because I wanted to try a translucent powder I was very excited to put my hands on this little pot. GOSH Prime’n Set Primer & Mattifying Setting Powder was launched in their Spring/Summer 2014 collection.

I don't usually use a powder for two reasons: one, I never manage to pick a colour that would actually suit me and second, I absolutely hate that powdery finish you get after using it. Being a fan a dewy skin, I always thought using a powder over the foundation will take away all that natural shine leaving you with a matt face, but I just realised not all powders do that. This one is finely milled so that it’s almost like dust, meaning that it sets without a powder finish and still lets the natural dewiness of skin show through without letting oiliness appear.

I love how this powder is completely translucent and does not interfere with the colour of my foundation. I have used this as a primer for my Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin foundation, and it works well in making the foundation last longer, while minimizing pores. Another thing I like about this is the lid that allows you to control how much powder you need, so you never have to deal with too much loose powder coming out.

On application, skin feels silky and I noticed that the texture became slightly more even. It does cover over my pores quite nicely, but I wouldn't say it covers redness or imperfections too. I've also been using this to set my foundation. It mattifies leaving a nice natural finish (I have  a normal to dry skin). It is perfume and paraben free.

I like this loose powder because it mattifies without drying skin and makes my makeup last longer. Also, it doesn't make my face look powdery. I think this is a great alternative to more expensive setting powders. It's price is £9.99 for 7g product in Superdrug.
